You Can't Handle The Truth
Paul Pierce. The Vet. The Captain. The Truth. The Celtic.
Paul Pierce, Celtics legend, has finally had his name and number immortalized in Boston history as he rose his jersey into the rafters with all of his loved ones, closest friends, and perhaps the whole city of Boston admiring the moment. The ceremony began with a procession of the front office members past and present, led by majority owner Wyc Grousbeck, 2008 coach Doc Rivers, and long time GM Danny Ainge. The second procession consisted of his most beloved teammates, including Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Antoine Walker, Walter McCarthy, Brian Scalabrine, Leon Powe, and Dana Barros. His family soon followed to a separate section and after a few touching tributes, in strode the Truth himself. Grousbeck, Ainge, Rivers, and Pierce himself all gave moving speeches before he and his family proceeded to raise his jersey to the Garden's hallowed rafters. Off the court, Pierce has proved himself to be a polite, well spoken class act. On the court however, he was a cold-blooded killer, scoring over 24,000 points in the legendary green and white to be the 2nd highest scorer in Celtics history. Thank you Paul Pierce, for ever basket you scored, every clutch play you made, every minute of pure hustle and effort you spent on the court, for every charitable act, for every fan, young and old, that you inspired. Thank you for bleeding Celtic Green day in and day out, for never giving up, for earning us that 17th banner.
